Tarleton
Tarleton Tarleton is a large gentle male cat. One of my hobbies (passions!) is genealogy. So I name my animals after ancestors. Here is how Tarleton got his name. One of the first people captured at the battle of Staten Island was a man named Tarleton Woodson. Since he was an officer, he didn't have to go to the British Prison Ships in New York Harbor where the Brits housed their prisoners. Most men died there. Tarleton was taken to Long Island where he was housed by a Quaker family. After the Revolutionary War he married their daughter and they moved to Virginia. Tarleton is an ancestor of mine.
